Three W's on the Internet: "Wisdom Will Work!"

Information, Wisdom, and Peace
By Ding Reyes
.
IN 1995, I WROTE A TEN-WORD SENTENCE summarizing my observation of the internet, then also popularly known as the “information superhighway.” It was a reaction to what I had observed among some of my friends who were unabashedly swooning over the amount of knowledge they were getting about lives and politics and even showbiz trivia of people halfway across the world, matters completely irrelevant to the daily lives, as humans, of those friends. I titled the statement thus: The EdR Dekalog of 1995, the first term being some form of initials of my name. The EdR Dekalog read this way:'
.
. “Information superhighway good; but for own human life, seek wisdom.”
.
....... When I started applying the focal point of that statement, I decided to remove my initials from its title. Those only distracted from its point and added nothing to its wisdom. It only provided additional information – what are the initials of the guy who wanted to not so subtly claim authorship of the statement, something that would not so easily be proven and validated. In any case, I did not want any of my efforts spent on claiming authorship that can be quite as controversial as it is totally irrelevant to the main point of the statement. I would rather have controversies on the validity of the statement itself, discourse that would educate as it progresses.
.
.......Very recently I got involved in a consciousness-raising project which challenged me to suggest new meanings to the three W's that represent a more popular name for the Internet phenomenon: World-Wide Web. The project initiator gave me three w-words, each very necessary to the successful pursuit of the project’s main advocacy.
.
........The three words are wisdom, will, and work – each to be taken singly and the three to be achieved as a complete set. What I did with these three words was to take them out from the enumeration arrangement and put them out, in the same order, as a simple sentence. From “Wisdom, Will, (and) Work” to the simple future-tense sentence, “Wisdom will work.” This would be quite an assurance for the worrisome and insecure. And it’s true! This is a valid non-fiction statement.
.
........If we take wisdom for what it really is and not merely the possession of megabytes and gigabytes of data, we'd realize that Wisdom necessarily partakes of the characteristics of the Divine Mind, the progressive succession of valid syllogisms that involve more logic and analysis, as well as valuations and choices, than data classifications and storage (memorization).
.
........ Wisdom is well beyond merely thinking. It has a spiritual dimension and not merely the output of mental intelligence and “thinking hard enough.”
.
........So, I’m prepared for those who’d surely challenge my confident statement “Wisdom will work” with questions like, “You mean wisdom alone can achieve everything, even without will power and even without actually doing work?” My answer: real wisdom takes everything into consideration and results in will power; and these two together would surely result in working, in determination for active, effective work, with desire and patience to continually learn from previous failed attempts to discover and refine how successfully to do it.
.
........The consciousness-raising project I am now deeply involved in pertains to peace education and advocacy.
.
........The really wise have all the wisdom to know real and sustainable peace, the reason to be at peace, to desire peace passionately enough to work hard for it, to patiently learn well enough to be effective and successful. Let’s all peacefully work for peace – peace within, peace between, peace among each and all of us. Wisdom will work! Many people see their attempts not working. The wisest among them would say “not yet working.”
.
........For our own human lives, let’s seek real wisdom. For example, let’s all be wise enough to recognize and uphold the Oneness of All in our lives. Let’s all grasp this bit of wisdom about anger, a prominent element of unpeace:
.
........ “Anger punishes. Anger unreasonably punishes …the angry.”
.
........For peace and all other noble advocacies we have decided to pursue, let’s remind ourselves well: “wisdom… will… work…” I suggest that we get reminded of these three words and recite them everytime we see the three W's ar the beginning of any virtual address that we meet along the “information superhighway.”

I prefer the original, "Wisdom, will, work." This is the inseparable triad. You cannot take one apart from the whole.

I have no problem even with, "Wisdom will work." This is indisputable Truth.

I am just wondering to whom you are addressing your message. Surely, it would not be to one who is already awake to that Truth...because there would be no point in that. It would be like telling the sun to give light to the world :-)

If it is to those who are not yet quite awake to that Truth...those who are yet unsure what wisdom, spirit, will, means (knowing only work :-), how will the statement be of practical help to them?

As you well know, wisdom and will are of the spirit...not of the mind. They are of the heart...not of the head. And the reason why many are not yet awake to the Truth of your statement is that the light of the awareness of the Truth of who they really are as spirit is blocked.

They are like the blindfolded-from-birth...who have only pure intellectual knowledge of the reality of light from what they have heard and read in books in Braille...but remain without the actual experience of light.

Telling them that sunlight actually shines brightly on all of them and illuminates the awesome beauty of their surroundings...while they remain groping in fear in their kind of self-inflicted darkness...would be of no real practical help to them, would it? ("C'mon guys, what are you waiting for? Let's bask in the sunlight and enjoy this glorious sunset!" :-)

The only real practical help one can give them is to try to make them aware of what blocks their vision of the light that they may learn to be free of it. And when they learn to be free of their blindfolds...they no longer have to be told about the light and how it works.

In the same way, people do not have to be pushed to love, to be peace, to be joy...only to be helped to remove what blocks the light of awareness of who they really are already (as they have always been and always will be): as beings of love, peace and joy.

The secret of life is quite simple. It is simply in being yourself. But if you are not aware of who you really are...how can you be yourself?

The sun is fully aware of who it is as a being of light. So it need not be told to make an effort to give light. By simply being, it gives life and light to the world.

Now, the question that begs to be answered is, "What is this singular block to the light of awareness of who one really is, and the reality of the wholeness of all being...from where naturally and effortlessly manifest unity, harmony, synergy, oneness...love, compassion, kindness, peace, joy...limitless happiness, creativity, and total freedom from fear and all manner of pain and suffering!

As long as this block remains, there will always be the consequent darkness of ignorance where fear arises and reigns, that invariably manifests in fragmentation and conflict, all unwanted pain and suffering in this world...
